About Ink & Cleaver
Welcome to Ink & Cleaver
I’m Trish, originally from Sydney but now embroiled in a full-swing love affair with Melbourne via nine years in the United Kingdom. This here space is my mind-office of recipes I’ve created, tested, bagged and loved. There are articles I’ve written, ramblings I’ve rambled, reviews I’ve done (which, incidentally, I don’t call reviews – I call them ‘experiences’) and all accompanied by my fumblings with a dodgy DSLR or my trusty iPhone.
Growing up in the 70’s was my launching pad for cooking and eating, a revolutionary time for suburban-infused international cuisine; born and bred in Cabramatta meant that Pho was being slurped at a young age. We had Yugoslavian neighbours (Mick) on one side and Vietnamese (Jim) on the other, and the over-the-fence food exchanges always fascinated me. The enthusiasm of this decade and ‘to the wind’ attitude has resonated with me; it’s how I continue to cook, usually with a stiff gin in hand.
My father was a butcher and we always had quality food at our place – top cuts of meat, always a roast but being the 1970’s it also meant we had to endure his ‘experimental phases’ – I will never eat savoury mince again, the sole reason why I struggle with capsicum to this day.
When time and wallet permits, I venture out from the rental and enjoy the abundance of Melbourne’s food scene. Sometimes I’m compelled to write down my thoughts and slap them up here for you to see – if they are gratis I will tell you, if they aren’t I will tell you and show you a receipt. They are my opinions and thoughts and I strongly encourage you to have your own.
I hope you like what’s going on here.
If you would like to use any of my images, more often than not I won’t have a problem but please ask first and whack a credit in there for me, will ya? Thanks.
